The FIELD FOR HUMAN COMMUNICATION
The Field for Human Communication explores the living relational space where communication actually happens. Drawing on three decades of experience working with leaders and organizations, Mary Huron Hunter argues that most communication challenges are not caused by the words we say but by the deeper dynamics underneath them—our attention, nervous systems, beliefs, and relational patterns. The article introduces the concept of “The Field” as both a metaphor and a practical framework for understanding human interaction. By learning to notice and respond to what is happening in the field between people, individuals and leaders can develop deeper awareness, navigate difficult conversations more effectively, and cultivate more authentic and resilient relationships.
