Teach Me to Know.
Just like the birds sing freely, unfiltered and unapologetically, we can learn how to wield our words wisely and well so we can be expressed, heard and known.
It all starts with getting in touch with our needs and desires and then giving ourselves the time and space to practice what we have to share, believing that our voice matters...even if to no one else but US.
Next, becoming an observer of how the language we use creates feelings within us and those we are communicating with is the next step.
Is your language vague or is it clear?
Vague language is using words and phrases like:
Maybe.
I don't know.
I'm fine.
I'll try.
We'll see.
Vague language creates uncertainty, stress and anxiety.
Clear language is more like:
Yes.
No.
I'm feeling tired today.
I am unable to attend.
I will make a decision and let you know by noon tomorrow.
Clear language is kind, inarguable and builds trust.
This simple shift can make all the difference in how we feel about ourselves and how others relate to us.
